Central Rock Climbing Gym was unlike any place I have ever been. As it’s located in a college town, the vibe was already very eclectic and friendly from the moment we arrived. My experience could not have been more fun, ya sure, it smells a little like stinky socks- but thats to be expected- I didn’t come for the atmosphere, I came to climb some rocks! …and test myself in a way I never have before too, I suppose.

Right off Rt. 9 in Hadley this spacious facility was loaded with over 200 top rope climbs and over 80 bouldering climbs. From a beginner rock climber to an expert level, there was a course for everyone. You could climb pumpkin shaped rocks or hang upside down from the ceiling. Or if you just felt like going for a run, well hop on a treadmill and work out your energy that way also.

They offer so many specials: high school discounts, college discounts, even senior citizen and family discounts. I’d imagine, if there is any other kind of discount, you can probably get it at Central Rock. They have kid-friendly areas, and spots just for birthday parties (hey parents! they even lock your kids up for the night if you want!!) What’s cooler than a sleep over at a jungle gym?! It doesn’t matter how old you are to enjoy that one!

They teach belaying classes so you can come in and climb with your friends without having a staff member present- or if you don’t want your 7 year old belaying you down, come on a Saturday for open rock climbing where there will be an instructor to help you out!!
