Recently this little hometown restaurant had some growing pains and instead of throwing in the towel, did something amazing about it. Abudanza on Boston Rd in Wilbraham just underwent a very exciting renovation by none other than the hit TV show, “Restaurant Impossible. “
With a brand new attitude and a brand new look, Abudanza is ready to welcome new faces to their tables. The interior is very family oriented with enlarged pictures of their kids and family lining the bar area. The main dining room is nicely tied together with elegant black tables and cute patterned fabric. The exposed brick wall in the back adds a great touch to the decor.
The menu has been updated since being on the show and the little additions to already existing dishes have brought Abudanza to a new level.
As I arrived on a nice, chilly, rainy, New England day, I warmed up body and soul with a steaming bowl of cream of broccoli soup chased by a delightful Cosmopolitan. The soup was very pleasant – nice and creamy. The entrees that I tried were the Portuguese Style Steak and the Scrod Francaise. The Portuguese Style Steak was something I have never had before that I would certainly recommend and order again. It had two poached eggs, a fantastic red wine demi glaze, ham and crispy french fries smothering a NY Strip. YUM. The Scrod Francaise had a nice hint of lemon and was soft and flaky. This dish was comprised of Fresh Atlantic Scrod, Lemon Wine, Capers, Artichoke Hearts, always a win/win.
Stop by the New Abudanza and ask them how their TV Show experience was and see for yourself the beautiful renovations that took place by Robert Irvine himself.
