East Street Grill & Creamery

Think you’ve had all the cuisine Chicopee, MA has to offer? Well, lucky for you, Chicopee has welcomed a new fusion restaurant to the neighborhood. Joining the line up of unique comfort foods with their own personal spin, East Street Grill and Creamery has claimed their rank on the ladder. This little restaurant packs a punch and will soon become a staple in town for Mediterranean cuisine as well as the familiar American eats you crave.

Converted from the old Friendly’s, the fact that they also have a creamery is PERFECT. Now, if I had it my way, I would start every meal with a sundae.. because let’s be real… my life is only complete with drizzled hot fudge, whipped creme and a cherry on top. But after a moment of clarity kicks in- I take a stab at the Mediterranean portion of the menu. Starting out my meal with lightly fried balls of love, (ground chickpeas and spices with tahini sauce) more commonly known as falafal and the popular fattoush salad, (Mediterranean salad made of tomatoes, cucumbers, and assorted vegetables topped with crispy pita bread and served with a dressing of your choice FYI.) each item provided just the perfect amount of crunch that I was craving. Also knowing that I was eating all homemade dishes made from scratch, and not frozen from some warehouse, made my stomach smile. This is one of a handful of places where you can get pizza, hot dogs and kafta under one roof. Not too shabby, eh?

For those morning folks, breakfast is on the menu as well. Try Char’s special-  a popular choice, sure to satisfy- Two eggs, bacon or sausage, homefries, 2 pancakes & toast and all under $10 bucks for the win! But if you’re Sunday brunch sweet tooth requires something a little more savory sink your teeth into pancakes or waffles where you can get them made with bananas, chocolate chips, blueberries, strawberries, or even M&M’s!

The lunch and dinner menu really is quite vast- it is chocked full of classic, well-loved American dishes as well as familiar Mediterranean entrees. The prices are very affordable considering the portion size and the atmosphere is very cozy and welcoming. A great joint for the whole family; even the pickiest of children will find something on this menu that will make them happy, leave them full and keep mom & dad confident that their child is eating a healthy, homemade cuisine made with the care and compassion your family deserves.

As cliche as it may sound, make sure to leave room for dessert! My favorite part of any meal. Soft serve or a sundae await you, but only if you’ve finished your vegetables!
