This week I got to try a quaint, cozy Italian joint in Enfield, CT called Buona Vita. They have been nestled in the corner of Shaker Pines Plaza since 1998 serving up delicious interpretations of Italian classics. They’ve also got some non-Italian dishes that I have to say, were pretty rockin’. Daily specials include the spicy ahi tuna tacos with sriracha aoili and an apple slaw , the perfect way for me to hold onto summer and all things beach related! But if that’s not your thing, venture in on a Sunday where you can find a very satisfying and hearty Sunday Gravy Special with short ribs, sausage, meatballs, all in a homemade marinara topped with ricotta and served with warm, buttery garlic bread. That’s bound to warm the soul and fill your belly! If you’re feeling like seafood is the craving of the evening dig into the seared scallops with risotto primavera. That is always a win/win- filled with mushrooms, tomatoes, roasted peppers, broccoli and a lemon basil pesto you can’t go wrong . Buona Vita has food for every appetite. I also tried the chicken sorrentino (you can also get it in veal) while I was there and it was a very generous portion of eggplant, delicate prosciutto, mushrooms, spinach, sherry wine, and topped with my favorite of course, melty, gooey mozzarella! Next on my list is the 7 Cheese Mac & Cheese- after a good solid work out of course! If you are a pasta aficionado do a create-your-own pasta by picking the pasta, the meat and the sauce. Always a safe bet if you’re bringing the family.
If you’re not looking for a sit-down atmosphere step on through to the other side. Awaiting you is a fully-stocked bar along with half-off appetizers and the Sunday NFL ticket. ($1.50 Coors Drafts and $3.00 Sangria’s, every Tues-Fri 4p-6p)Don’t miss another game when Buona Vita’s got you covered. Grab your favorite draft and cheer on your favorite football team until the last pass.
Take a look at their menu right here. And if you like what you see, hop in the car and head on over with your very own Sweet-deal.
