If you are familiar with Memorial Drive in Chicopee, you’ll know that there is every fast-food joint ever created along that strip; KFC, Burger King, McDonald’s, Taco Bell… the list goes on. If you find your palette craving more than the typical meat patty that has been sitting pretty under a heat lamp, stop on in to Family Roasters. Simply put, this brand new, family-owned restaurant has GREAT FOOD. Simple choices made fresh with family recipes.
I got to check out this little gem this past week. I hadn’t heard of them yet, but I can tell you that I’ll remember them now. That’s for certain. The owner’s Nelson and Gabriella, are a tag team that complement each other so nicely. Gabriella, and her very personable and welcoming personality is attentive and kind as she is everything that I think of when I think “Family Business.” Chef Nelson complements his slow-cooked, roasted chicken with homemade side dishes that he knows people will crave. He makes mostly everything from scratch including his corn muffins, mashed potatoes and gravy, salad dressings, macaroni & cheese and fried plantains. The menu rotates with daily specials but have no doubts you will always be able to find delicious roasted chicken at the top.
Know that your money is well spent at Family Roasters. Food made for the community, by people in your community. I can’t stress enough how much I love that they are a local business with the hustle and bustle of a long-established chain restaurant. And also how much I loved the mac and cheese and ribs. So make sure that’s on your list as well!
