Right in the heart of the capital city, CT Science Center has a utopia of fun and education waiting for you to delve into.
The Science Center made me feel like a kid in a candy shop. With 165 exhibits to explore, there was never a dull moment. My adventure began with the Bodies Revealed exhibit (free with admission, by the way… that NEVER happens!!) I couldn’t believe what I saw within these walls. Magnificent would probably be a good word to describe it. Here, every system of the body was featured in an artistic and tactful way. There is nothing quite like this- from the nervous system to the skeletal, every portion of the human body was explained in great detail and had a visual for you to stare in wonder at. The exhibit is only in CT until the first week of January. So get there before Bodies is off and running to its next location.
Next, I made my way into “Exploring Space.” I left my footprints in the dust of the Moon. I grabbed a seat and headed off on a 3d adventure to space with the move of a joystick. Travel around the sun or even to Saturn-a must see for sure.
Are you more of an athlete than an astronaut? Switch gears and test your physical and mental abilities in the “Sports Lab.” Challenge your friends to a game of mind ball or become your own sports star!! After a few quick questions and a pic, instantly you are on the cover of your very own sports magazine! And the cool part is CTSC will email it directly to you!
I’ve always loved biological science, so getting to play with the SimMan (thank you Hartford HealthCare!) was one of my favorites.
Get yourself into the thick of it all! Visit little sea creatures in the wet zone and don’t be afraid to pick them up and see them for yourself.
This piece of the museum I truly enjoyed. End your trip with a visit to the picturesque rooftop garden. Its as educational as it is beautiful. The CT science center rooftop garden also overlooks the sweeping city views of Hartford sky-rises. A special piece of this garden grows solely for 3 very special women. You can help embrace Michaela’s Garden by helping harvest four-o-clock seeds and raise money and awareness for women in science.
All in all, I had a blast and I know you will too 🙂 Let me know your favorite exhibit!
KIDS 3 AND UNDER ARE FREE. VISIT THEIR WEBSITE FOR MORE INFO 🙂
