When you think of the most popular eateries in the Pioneer Valley what most easily comes to mind? The Lucky Strike in Chicopee. That’s for sure. In 1948 when Charlie Dugre (and partner Sam Carrigan) opened a combo variety store and sandwich shop over the Lucky Strike Bowling Alley, who would have thought that nearly 6 decades later their home-cooked classics would become household favorites.
While there, I was lucky enough to get my paws on their famous broasted chicken and potatoes. I obviously topped it off with onion rings and a burger!! For dessert it was a toss up between the Oreo creme pie and the peanut butter cup creme pie. It was a pretty even draw when it came to which I liked better. Nothing makes a girl happier than fluffy, chocolately heaven and having a wonderful waitress named Joan. I felt right at home, like I could kick off my shoes, turn on the TV and relax with a freshly cooked piece of broasted chicken.. This place is an iconic Pioneer Valley gem. If you want to experience the hearty, home-cooked, deliciously prepared meals look no further than Lucky Strike in Chicopee. And to top it off, be part of the fun with a half off sweetdeal from sweetjack. They are going fast so don’t wait!!
